IACMI solicits and selects project proposals that advance the nation’s energy and economic security by sharing existing resources and co-investing to accelerate research and development innovation with advanced composites. IACMI projects validate manufacturing technologies to respond to private industry’s need for faster and more cost, material, and energy-efficient composite manufacturing, including recycling and the end-of-product life.
IACMI resources will be used to collaborate with members on selected projects. Support and collaboration of industry, research institutions, and state partners ensures that technical risk is reduced and advancements within the composites supply chain are enabled. IACMI’s Request For Proposals (RFP) is an open call process that supports projects of varying size, duration, commercialization potential, and cost-share commitments.
IACMI co-funds Technology Area support of collaborative projects that address member needs and IACMI technical goals:
• Lower carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) cost
• Reduce CFRP embodied energy
• Improve composite recyclability into useful products
