The Greater Lafayette Commerce is working with Lafayette, Indiana-area manufacturers and Ivy Tech Community College engage 1,800 kindergarten through twelfth grade public and private school students from six counties in Indiana to learn about the career opportunities in the STEM fields during Manufacturing Week, Oct. 2 – 6, 2017. This is the fourth year Greater Lafayette Commerce’s Workforce Development partners have hosted Manufacturing Week, which has a goal of immersing the future workforce in advanced manufacturing.
High school students can participate in Manufacturing Tours at facilities throughout the region. Middle school students can engage in Manufacturing Expo LEAN and Supply Chain activities at Ivy Tech Community College; and elementary school students can join hands-on workshops with manufacturers at Ivy Tech Community College.
Manufacturing Tours are hosted by: Arconic, Ball Corporation, Caterpillar Inc, Cives Steel Company, Dayton-Phoenix Group, GE Aviation, Girtz Industries, Ivy Tech Community College – School of Technology, KA Components, Kirby Risk Service Center, Liquid Spring, LSC Communications, Ludo Fact, Oscar Winski Company, Regal Power Transmission Solutions, Southwire, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Swift Fuels, Wabash National Corporation
The Manufacturing Expo is at Ivy Tech Community College, and businesses hosting booths include: Cutting Edge Industrial Technologies LLC, Caterpillar Inc, IN-MaC – Purdue University, Ivy Tech Community College, ZF, KA Components, Kirby Risk Corporation, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Vincennes University, and Wabash National Corporation.
The Manufacturing Workshop is also at Ivy Tech Community College. Businesses conducting workshops include Caterpillar Inc, Ivy Tech Community College and Subaru of Indiana Automotive.
