Manufacturing Day is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2017, and is a great way for your organization to engage with the community to show them the innovations and opportunities that you bring to the manufacturing industry.
Manufacturing Day is internationally organized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and has a goal of working to close the employee skills gap by introducing communities to the opportunities of manufacturing by providing training resources to potential employees, and by offering opportunities for communities to understand the positive impact that manufacturing organizations have in their lives. Since IACMI includes many partner and member locations across the U.S., IACMI is working to tell a collective story of the importance to the manufacturing presence that organizations included in IACMI contribute in the composite manufacturing industry. Many IACMI members participated in Manufacturing Day in 2016, and in 2017 IACMI continues to encourage members and partners to engage in this beneficial workforce development opportunity.
To join IACMI in participating in Manufacturing Day 2017, please consider the following steps:
- Step 1: Consider an audience your organization is interested in reaching. That audience can be students (think of a grade level), potential employees, policy makers, or your local community in general. Visit www.mfgday.com for more resources on planning your event.
- Step 2: Consider how your organization wants to engage that audience. Some suggestions could be a plant tour, an open house, partnering with other organizations to host a job expo, or a presentation at a local school.
- Step 3: Contact Emily King at eking@iacmi.org by Friday, September 22, to register your event with IACMI and to be included in a promotional newsletter sent the week of September 18, and a recap newsletter sent in October. We want to show the impact that our members have in their communities, and we want to help you make this event a success!
- Step 4: Plan and host your event.
Visit Manufacturing Day’s website http://www.mfgday.com/ for resources to help you plan events, see Manufacturing Day events that other organizations are planning, and to learn more about why this event is important to the longevity of the manufacturing industry.
