IACMI to participate in Manufacturing Day at Austin East High School

Manufacturing Day at Austin East High School

October 6-7, 2016

Austin-East Magnet High school is partnering with Visionary Center for Sustainable Communities (VCSC) to host the first annual Community Manufacturing Days. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the advanced manufacturing industry, and the educational and career pathways available to them. They will be able to meet with some local manufacturing industry representatives, and see some of the tools in use in the industry today.

VCSC, a national 501(c)(3) charitable organization, headquartered here in Knoxville, hosts a mobile classroom designed to inform and intrigue individuals about what the manufacturing industry looks like today and the tools and systems that it uses. VCSC’s classroom is currently equipped with a 3D printer, 3D scanner, 3D design tools, robotic arms, CNC control simulator, and lots of videos to show visitors how far the industry has come and where it is going. VCSC will educate the community and students about the many different educational pathways, as well as the career pathways.
