Tour:  February 6 | Seminar:  February 7-8

Gear up for a special plant tour of Coast Composites Tooling/Ascent Aerospace on February 6. Following the tour, embark on two days of comprehensive education designed for advanced materials and processes professionals. The course covers important, up-to-date aspects of the current and projected markets, critical materials used in forming composites, manufacturing methods for both Advanced Composites and FRP Composites, along with numerous examples of applications and some pertinent videos to enhance the learning process. Included references to textiles and fabrics, fiber systems, resin types and “tricks of the trade” used in manufacturing, are offered within this revised and updated workshop. Examples of manufacturing defects associated with various process environments are also included.
Day one topics will include presentations on composites market, additive manufacturing, test methods, fibers, and resin technology. Day two presentations will focus on manufacturing technologies, robotics, fiber placement, and tape laying, out of autoclave technology, and resin infusion processes.

Keynote Speakers
Day one: Randy Jones, Inspection Technologies, Inc. – “NDT Inspection Technology for Composites”
Special Luncheon Speaker – IACMI Carbon Fiber Program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
Day two: Lou Dorworth/Abaris Training – “Composites Repair Technologies”
BTG Composites Inc. developed this course to meet SAMPE’s needs in updating educational technologies associated with composite materials and structures across a wider variety of markets segments.
Course Instructor: Dr. Scott W. Beckwith has over 45 years experience in marketing, management, engineering, and manufacturing technical roles within the composite structures and propulsion industry.
