IACMI Project Webinar Series: High-Volume Manufacturing of Lightweight Automotive Composites & Thermoplastic Composites Parts Manufacturing Enabling High Volumes, Low Cost, Reduced Weight with Design Flexibility

Team members Johnathan Goodsell with Purdue University and Dayakar Penumadu with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville will present on their project, Optimized Carbon Fiber Intermediate Development to Enable High Volume Manufacturing of Lightweight Automotive Composites. This presentation will discuss the modeling of fiber orientation of carbon fiber platelets sheet molding compounds and the fiber orientation and mechanical properties of carbon fiber composites using thermal digital image correlation technique (TDIC).
Team members Robert Davies with Fibrtec and Mike Bogdanor with Purdue University will also present on their project, Thermoplastic Composites Parts Manufacturing Enabling High Volumes, Low Cost, Reduced Weight with Design Flexibility. This presentation will focus on the flexible thermoplastic tow for use in net shape flexible fabric.
After each presentation will be short Q&A sessions.
This webinar is open to all interested in learning about how IACMI projects are driving the adoption of advanced composites.
