The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) High Performance Computing for Manufacturing Program (HPC4Mfg) is now accepting project proposals from the manufacturing industry to compete for $3 million in funding of projects that work to innovate the manufacturing processes through using high performance computing (HPC). IACMI is sharing this call for proposals to solicit partners on potential projects.
The HPC4Mfg Program supports projects that partner manufacturing industry with DOE national labs to use high performance computing (HPC) systems and expertise to upgrade their manufacturing processes. This program pairs an HPC expert with a U.S. manufacturer, and that team will work to implement the capabilities of HPCs to strategize and implement ways to accelerate innovation, lower energy costs, shorten testing cycles, reduce waste and rejected parts, and cut the time to market.
When submitting concepts to the HPC4Mfg program, companies are encouraged to highlight their most challenging problems so the HPC4Mfg program can identify the most applicable national lab expertise. HPC4Mfg is soliciting proposals in the following areas:
- Proposals that require HPC modeling and simulation to overcome impactful manufacturing process challenges resulting in reduced energy consumption and/or increased productivity.
- Proposals that uniquely exploit HPC modeling and simulation to reduce energy consumption through improved clean energy technology design and clean energy manufacturing.
- Proposals that accelerate the development and qualification of new energy materials; with a primary emphasis on the nuclear and fossil energy program areas of the Department of Energy.
