Krauss-Maffei Corporation, the US subsidiary of the KraussMaffei Group, hosted its most highly attended Open House at the company’s US headquarters in Florence, Kentucky on Thursday, October 5th.
Record turnout shows Krauss-Maffei Corp.’s draw as a technology leader
With 750 guests attending, the event marked the company’s most popular Open House ever, besting last year’s celebration that marked Krauss-Maffei Corporation’s 50th anniversary in the US.
“The turnout just shows how much our growth as a company has made a positive impact on our customers and the market,” said Paul Caprio, President and CEO of Krauss-Maffei Corporation.
New ‘Innovation Center’ expansion unveiled
The new ‘Innovation Center,’ a 20,000 square foot space dedicated to showcasing Krauss-Maffei Corporation’s machinery and technologies, opened to the public for the event. Featuring new meeting space and a permanent area for live equipment demonstrations, the center provided additional opportunities for guests to see the latest in extrusion and injection molding machines in action.
“The new Innovation Center gives us more flexibility for machine trials and equipment demonstrations that would otherwise require longer prep time,” said Caprio. “It’s also a great example of how Krauss-Maffei Corporation is making a proactive investment in the future of the company.”
The company also recently added a new state-of-the-art Kardex inventory shuttle system, installed to streamline customer parts orders and shipments.
PX Series and ELIOS make their public debut in the US
The new KraussMaffei PX Series and Netstal ELIOS injection molding machines made their US debut at the Open House and provided the company a broader spectrum of equipment to highlight at the event.
“The PX sets new standards by merging unprecedented modularity to the existing advantages of all-electric injection molding machines. With the ELIOS, you have the fastest clamping unit in the industry for thin-walled packaging,” said Caprio. “Our Open House, with the added space, is the perfect setting to introduce these two top-of-the-line powerhouses.”
Additional equipment at the Open House included a KMD 114-32/R extruder producing PVC pipe and a Rim Star 40/16 running a foam application, among many others. A total of 15 of the 21 machines on display were actively running parts throughout the day, representing the company’s KraussMaffei, KraussMaffei Berstorff, and Netstal brands.
Vendor partner table tops ‘outnumbered some industry trade shows’
The Open House also featured 80 table top displays highlighting additional technology and service offerings from partners – a sixty percent increase from last year’s 50 participants.
“We are proud to have attracted so many partners and vendors this year to showcase their products and services. Eighty table top displays – that
outnumbers some industry trade shows!” Caprio said. “A large percentage approached us about exhibiting. We even had to turn some away, due to space limitations,” Caprio added.
Besides manufacturers and other industry partners, the event welcomed several universities to the mix. Since Caprio took the helm in 2009, Krauss-Maffei Corporation has ramped up its commitment to plastics industry education programs in the US.
Over 35 technical papers place new innovations and trends in the spotlight
To round out the event, experts from Krauss-Maffei Corporation and its technology partners, presented over 35 technical papers throughout the day. Topics included market trends in injection molding, extrusion, and polyurethane processing; KraussMaffei’s new Data Xplorer injection molding process data collection technology and the new iPul pultrusion line; plus a host of process and innovation presentations from other vendor partners.
