IACMI-The Composites Institute Welcomes John Unser as Project Director

Knoxville, TN, November 7, 2016The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation— IACMI-The Composites Institute, a national institute led by The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and U.S. Department of Energy, welcomes John Unser as Project Director.

Unser will coordinate and direct IACMI research, development and demonstration of technical projects as well as all activities that support IACMI goals under the direction of newly appointed CEO, Bryan Dods. Unser will work closely with institute staff, technology area directors, and the technical advisory board.

John Unser joins IACMI-The Composites Institute after an impressive tenure at Caterpillar as Engineering Specialist.  Considered a subject matter expert for composite materials, Unser will bring his extensive experience in the implementation of composites and adhesives into heavy equipment, automotive, aerospace and consumer products to the team IACMI. Unser’s cost reduction projects and success, pertaining to weight reduction and replacement of complex expensive designs, will also greatly improve long-term goals set to develop large scale and commercial composites.

And with more than a decade of mentoring experience at FIRST Robotics, John’s focus on the industry’s future is clear as he plans to continue the education and inspiration of the next generation of engineers, scientists and industry workers.”
