About the speakers:

Joannie Harmon, workforce director for IACMI-The Composites Institute, will kick off the conversation and share how ACE is working to close the machine tools skills gap in the U.S., especially as it applies to CAM.

Dr. Tony Schmitz, an engineering professor at The University of Tennessee and Joint Faculty Member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), who has been instrumental in launching the CNC machining training, will share insight about machining dynamics and modern manufacturing education. Tony will introduce and moderate a conversation with featured speaker Nick Horvath.

Dr. Nick Horvath is a machining and machine tool researcher at ORNL and part of ORNL’s Intelligent Machine Tool Group. Nick’s presentation will focus on his path to ORNL and his investment in gaining CNC machining expertise.
