The Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council held its third annual Opportunities in Energy discussion on December 6, 2016. Over 60 attended the event including industry leaders and public officials. Deputy assistant secretary for energy efficiency at the U.S. Department of Energy, Kathleen Hogan, and IACMI CEO, Bryan Dods, led the “fireside chat” panel discussing public-private collaboration for clean energy developments moderated by WBIR’s John Becker .
During the panel, Dods honed in on Tennessee capabilities stating, “Knoxville is going to be the central ecosystem for composites. The nation is coming here”.
Vice chancellor for research and engagement for the Universtity of Tennessee, Knoxville and IACMI board of directors chair, Taylor Eighmy, later moderated a panel comprised of East Tennessee companies including Mohammad Khaleel, associate laboratory director for energy and environmental sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tom Rogers, director of industrial partnerships and economic development at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Peter Hedger Jr, communications and marketing director at Magnum Venus Products (MVP), and Connie Jackson, CEO of LeMond Composites. The panel discussed transformative innovations at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and how public-private partnerships such as IACMI are accelerating the pace.
